This past while has been rough, stressful, tiring, humbling, stretching, mind intensifying, saddening, heartbreaking, hopeful, joyful, exciting, humbling again, ecstatic, building, super fun, heart warming and good. To wrap all of those ideas into one word it would be GOOD! With Kaleo wrapping up it has been crunch time with the homework while at the same time the attempt to get every little bit of experience squeezed out of each trip like a little girl making lemonade. Living with people is tough, especially the ones that you don’t choose to live with. But a wise man told me that it is better to live with the people you don’t choose, that way growth actually happens. That is what has been happening. Growth. At this moment my mind and body are feeling quite sore and stretched from my previous pounding of the essays and pounding of my body, attempting to get into shape for motocross and farm work when I return home. The previous trip, Tofino and the one happening now, whitewater kayaking have both two of the most humbling experiences I have had all year. For most of my life I have been able to compete and take part in pretty much any sport because of my natural athleticism. But finally my pride and mindset have caught up to me. My right shoulder still holds the injury it received last spring while my left one received a new one just a few weeks ago. As of now both of my shoulders are out of commission and that has caused me to sit out the final two trips. While everyone else is enjoying the trip I have to find my own means of experience. While at Tofino, even though I was not surfing I had a fantastic quiet time on the beach to myself and managed to get in my first west coast sunset over the pacific in the company of good friends. And at the moment, the kayaking trip is happening but while everyone is out doing their thing, I just finished a 2000 word essay. Choice.
Of course this point in the year is not completely about schoolwork or experiences. Much of my time is spent examining my heart. I have found that unless my heart is in the right place, there is no reason for me to be in the current situation I am, because it will only end up damaging me and progress I have made so far. With the eyes of the Lord I have been picking out places where I have seldom explored, finding things and people there that have no place.
Lately at youth from the break though moment that happened on dodge-ball night to now things have been amazing. Phil, the new youth pastor, has really picked up the reigns at youth and is making changes left right and center. I am really excited to continue to be apart of that church, if it is only for one more youth and Sunday. What we are doing is preparing a way for future Kaleos to attend that church. Instead of attending a youth with (poor is a strong word but I cant currently think of a gentler word to place) poor leadership, organization and discipleship, they will be able to lead as leaders, instead of observing from the sidelines grade 9’s “leading.” But through all of this criticism youth is amazing; don’t get me wrong, its just that it seems like my church group was the building inspector that realized the building needed to get knocked down and a new contractor with training was needed to build a new building. Next year, hopefully K8 will have a fruitful time.
Although I have been away from home this year I have seen God moving and working while I have been away. For most people, you need them to tell you their testimony so you can hear what God has done in their life. Even though I am away. I still see the testimony of my sister unfolding before my eyes. It is unbelievable to see God working from such a distance. Incase you haven’t herd, God is working Miracles day by day in the health and life of my sister. Her “incurable, aggressively growing, death sentence” of a tumor is retreating and the Dr’s do not know why. As believers we know. God has our backs, when we cry out he listens and acts according to his character and will. In this case it seems it is in his will to cure her and praise God for his hand of mercy. My only hope is that I have a continuous heart of worship and praise with or without good MRI results.

Good Youth times
first, i haven't really written here in a while but its never too late it guess.
Last friday which just so happens to be yesterday i was sent off to youth all on my lonesome. Abby and Emma were working and bo simply didn't want to go which was fine with me because if people are there that don't want to be there then they just arnt fun and it would be better if they weren't. But moving on, it was dodgeball night at the intermediate school with pastor phil organizing the shindig. and it was a great amount of fun! i had a really good time. in our e-mails Phil told us to dress in our best dodgeball clothes so i did. Above the knee shorts, muscle shirt, crazy neon green hat, and high top shoes... nobody else dressed in such a fashion and when i got there i was subject to some ridicule, but no dig deal. i wore it with pride and some confidence. and soon enough it was accepted among the younglings for it to be "cool". after dodgeball we headed over to timmy Hoes, where i purchased a med. ice cap and a D-nut with the change i had. yum yum! For quite some time i have been feeling like an outsider of the youth but tonight flying solo i felt like a leader that made an impact. i have begun pouring into two of our youths lives. Jacob and trying for the other guy but his name escapes me at the moment. i have begun simply trying to invade there lives by asking questions and listening to their lives and offering what wisdom that has been given to me this past year. with only 3 weeks left it feels late to start feeling like a part of the group but i am glad that moment has come.
But only three weeks left and the count down is on,

The Manventure in accordance to Nathaniel.
Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us, 2 just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. 3 Therefore, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, it seemed good also to me to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, 4 so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught... here is our story..
Chapter 01
In The Beginning:
It was a wednesday afternoon and Tim, Justin, Jeremy, Mark, and myself were all done our essays (except for justin because he
doesn't do anything of that sort) and seeing that it was a beautiful day outside we all decided to go for a hike, the mountain is
located in Duncan or just outside Duncan because i cannot imagine someone building a town around a mountain and expecting it to do well. but the point is, it is in the Duncan area. we drive out there, i my self am the only one on the trip who has not climbed this stack of stone and i am giddy with excitement as conversation, Jokes and serenity mixed with anticipation are all floating around the van in prefect harmony. Just kidding, but it was a fun van ride none the less. we get to the base of the mountain and from the drive it seems that we are already at the top seeming that half of the drive was up hill but as we get out and walk some ways we soon discover, or i do anyways that it is quite a lengthy trip to the top.
Chapter 02
The Exodus to the Top:
The hike is beautiful, the sun is setting in roughly two hours, (so you can gauge in your minds where it is in the sky) the trails are barren of other people and it is quite hot out so it was a great time to run around on a mountain without our shirts or a care in the world. finally at the top we have great down time and talk time with the boys and the temperature starts to cool down so we make our way down to the bottom. but instead of walking we sprinted down. If you ever do this hike you will find that it is pretty steep and we got down pretty quick. but we failed to make it to the van because we stopped on one of the openings/outcroppings of stone that overlooked the valley to the west. we sat down and enjoyed the sunset which was so beautiful if i was married...you can fill in the gaps, oh ill just say it, have a nice camp out on the outcropping and we would read our bible together. And the idea came to mind that since for the next while it is to be beautiful and the weather is to be clear we came to the conclusion that it would be a waste if we didn't sleep under the stars at The Point. Oh and i forgot the the mountain was called Zoohalen, but thats not how its spelt, it starts with a "T" and then is subsequently followed by other letters, but thats how you say it Zoohalen, with a T sound at the beginning. We watched the sun over mountains in the distance, set, while sitting on a mountain over a valley.
Chapter 03
Out of Egypt, Into Superstore:
We headed over to our beloved superstore and bought steak in the form of chunks and strips, fine cheeses, a can of beans and alphagetti, and peppers. when we returned to the camp it was nightfall and there was some preparation to be done to make this trip a success. We packed our packs and headed over to the kitchen to prepare some banok bread dough to accompany our steak and cheese. From there the hike started.
Chapter 04
The Journey of Men:
It was a fun but strenuous hike since we were carrying bags and just returned from a hefty hike on the previous mountain. Its pitch black outside and our headlamps are doing everything but failing on us but luckily Mark brought a machete to save the day if any cougars showed up and we were blind in the dark. Also some girls were planning on "scaring" us in the dark but failed to act on there plans, it was lucky for them because we all had knifes and are masters of the art of throwing them through the forest, and we implemented the policy of use knives first and ask questions later. we made a humble fire on the rocks next to the sea where we sat down around it roasting steak with fresh bread and fine cheeses while passing jokes and fine stories as young gentlemen do. the food all had a unique taste since it was fire roasted over the underbrush and vines of the majestic west coast deciduous and coniferous forests. the burning of wood from that area adds a unique smoked flavour that you can find no where else in the world. once we were done our dinner we continued our hike to the point where we sat around digesting our food and talking some more as we were accompanied by a starry night without clouds of any sort quickly upon entering my sleeping bag i passed out and woke up in the morning with a nice coating of young dew on me. we packed out stuff watched the sun rise, went back to camp, then we went to mystic beach which was fun and another hike.
Chapter 05
That was just a taste of what happened, it would take me a millennia to write an exact account of what has happened. Although not exhaustive, this is an exelent account of what has happened on the wednesday of the month of february on the day in the year of Stephoneus Harperous

back again and it is time for a new kind of work.
this may be belated but.... WERE BACK! back at Qwanoes and although it is a good feeling to sleep once again in my bed in proper covers and to be able to sleep for reasonable hours, being back i quickly realized what a valley we live in and how our sky is always cloudy and lack of space for my eyes to wander. I wouldn't say i am sick of this place, it is more of a pet peeve of the area. But never the less we are back. and if feels great. I woe up this morning with a strange pain starting from the top of my left shoulder and stretching down to the front. you know that restless feeling that sometimes occurs in your legs? well thats what i have on my chest and it is really bugging me. The past trip though was unrealistically mind bottling, to be in the world but sticking out as a member of a group of people who are not of the world is an interesting people. (for those who don't know, at the Olympics it became quickly widespread knowledge throughout the workforce that there was a "church group" or "bible school" all working there and without people asking or us telling them they would just know upon meeting us that we were part of that group). Great conversation were initially sparked on matters of theology and what we are learning. There was much seed planting on this trip through these conversations and hopefully that seed fell into good soil so that it may grow and bear fruit
Last night or two nights ago i dreamt that i fought a bear but later tamed it to be my companion/friend. little to my surprise after i woke up that it was all a dream and was quickly disappointed.
This reading week is a big crunch week for all of us Kaleos who have ample amounts of homework to be completed in not ample amounts of time, an example would be this blog that is coming in late ;) (have mercy Kristie) a textbook to be read, the Gospels to read, an essay to finish, oh make that two essays to finish. and within these confines to find time to squeeze in for quiet/alone/God time. it is a mildly stressful week but we will get through it one way or another. because nothing is going to stop time.
Other than things are Jolly great and i would like to do a shout out to all my sponsors who send me free stuff every now and then, which include parachute men, Kazoo, Balsa wood airplanes, candy, and the Lovely Ladies of the Boyda foundation who have taken the liberty of sending these things out to me. upon immediate excitement, i was soon regretting opening the box due to an essay that i wanted to finish soo badly. but i found some time to include playing with my toys.

Well well well
well it is time, i currently have 2 days left in my five day stretch of work days and i am so excited for my next day off you have no idea. i am not tired from physical labour i am merely exhausted form greeting a group of people where half of the people you greet rarely acknowledge your existence. Being a servant is hard but i have never been a servant to a people so blind and who purposely show that they don't appreciate you a single bit...at least they are honest. other than that my experience here has been like none other. i mean i am at the olympics and by the time i am anywhere near them i will be at a ripe old age. the other day i was just running my mouth off jokingly around other kaleos pretending my dad was John Furlong (Prez of olympic committee) and some of the other volunteers believed me and asked why i was volunteering. a great way to start speaking about your bible school experience to strangers. The experience at the olympics has quickly lost its novelty value and is now turning into a real work experience. It is really hard to serve at a place where its purpose is to promote world peace for a time period of a month but during the process stomps on on the human rights of the homeless and promotes countries to spend millions of dollars towards entertainment and making a name for there own nation. i Ask for prayers of peace of mind and heart and most importantly great conversation opportunities with soft hearts and open ears involved. Living with everyone is nice, but i want more room. people are always loud and it is hard to find a quiet place to do anything, its not a bad thing and it may seem like I'm complaining its more of me being bugged and a need for space, i find myself spending a lot of my time on the roof of the church to be away from people. The time here is excellent it has really turned into an exhausting mission trip and we are all in this together.

My Blog is Best read Aloud
Another week has gone by so quickly and I cant help but have a small count down timer ticking in the back of my head, counting down the days until I go home. Just to clarify things there is in no way any negative feelings towards this place, I love being here and being around these people. I am just so excited to be back home with my family since I am noticing everyday how my heart tugs to be around them, opposed to at the start of the year how It pushed me to get far away. We leave for the Olympics tomorrow, early, which is Ok because waking up early to leave for something (ie. snowboarding), is something that I am relatively used to so it wont be hard for me to roll out of bed.
Do you ever have one of those moments where you forget your age? I do it all the time, I just looked at a poster on my wall that was sent to me for my birthday “ 18th birthday” it says, and I was just reminded of my age, our age is not something we really recognize most of the time, or well I don’t. There are times in my life when I am in intense conversations and some how barf out pieces of wisdom that I didn’t even know I had and there are others where I am acting so immature and stupid that I end up getting kicked out of wall mart… (well me and John were having races on those electric scooters…Ken the assistant manager was not impressed). But there are times in my life when I realize how young I am and how little of life I have really experienced and that gets me excited for times like tomorrow where only a few thousand Canadians will ever work at the Olympics in 2010 and how even fewer will be there to be an image of God to those people who have never seen him before.
Things around here are winging down or I have be come accustomed to this place so well that everything seems normal and not really anything new or different. I got news that back home my sister Olivia is going to steal my room. I’m not bugged by it, I will just have to get used to the “possessed” room, which turn out to be my original room from when we first moved in to the house.
Youth is going well, our pastor was delayed another month or so in coming out here but that doesn’t really affect us because by the time we get back he will be at church running the show (hopefully). Things at Church have seemed to warm up lately, the people seem a lot nicer and more open to us students. Its just for the past 5 months it seemed like we were ghosts in that church, or just students visiting for the next 8 months, but now it feels like we are more in there family than ever.
P.S. look at my new pics! ----->

It is Monday and I don’t know how I feel about that.
It’s the start of a new week! And I am really tired today and it looks like I am going to bed early to combat this early exhaustion if I am going to last throughout the week.
Jim Paulson is teaching us this week on theology. Hrmm we will see how things go. From what I have gathered so far from his teaching is not really much. It is hard to make some definite points from what he is speaking about if he doesn’t make them obvious. The rest of the week will solidify my thoughts but at this moment it is a “nodding of the head” class. You know. When you are sitting and are sleepy so your head falls a-bit but then snaps right back up because you woke up suddenly. Kinda like a one second nap Over and over and over..…….. and over
Youth is picking up really well. This semester we have a youth band in place which gives us some quality worship. We didn’t organize it, some guy named will did. That’s something bugs me every time I go to youth. I never know who are the leaders and who are the students! It seems every week, someone that I previously thought to be a student…turns out to be 19-21! Blows my mind!!!!!!!! But if I’m there long enough, maybe ill figure out who’s still in high school and who’s not. But other than that there is getting to be more of a familiarity between the students and myself, making it easier to carry conversation on more familiar ground. It would help if I could remember there names…..
If any one cares, Bob and I have taken fooseball to a whole new level. We play… to music from the Rocky films! It makes our already intense games, even that much more intense…and cool.. . . . .
We had a boys party in the office last night with a bucket of moose tracks ice cream and some root beer. I put it in the mini fridge “freezer” and this morning I went to look at it…ok me and Claire went to finish it off this morning after breakfast and it was all gone!!!! So if anyone wants to come forward, and give me a new tub of ice cream, it would be much appreciated.
I got a tattoo haha jokes, but I caused some elements of worry in my Mother when I sent her that very statement. Its not that I don’t want one.. well I’m flip flopping on the topic but I need to work out and get a better bod before I start tatin it up. I think ill get some sleeves… or a golden Hawk on my chest. I’m not totally decided but things will become clear when I go home.
Live free, Die hard… For Christ

NERF GUNZ RULE...jokes. there for kids not 24 year old asians
well i am back from my adventures on Mount Washington, and frankly i don't feel any ache in my body!, i feel like i could have gone for another week straight if there was snow and minimum amount of people on the hill but, with it ending as it did i am content with coming back. the sweet thing that ended the trip was going straight to youth from the hill on friday evening. one thing that has really struck me coming back is my love for going to youth. I felt such joy to come back and hang out with the Youth and i am starting to feel a love for them as people and long to be around them to show Christ to these broken children. We are getting the new youth pastor in february but i believe we will be gone before we see some large amounts of change in the youth program which i am looking forward to. on sunday Pastor Rob announced that there are Kaleo students in the church and that people should take them out for lunch! Finally! More free lunches that are home cooked!
My parakaleo Tyler come for the weekend prior to, and the week of snowboarding which was pretty sweet because how many students in my year can say that there para. came snowboarding with them for a week? just one and i think thats me.and on top of things he gave me a snowboard! a very outstanding individual ill say. not that he gave me free things, but because he is a rad man of God who is another ray of light shining into some grim realities.
We are reading christian doctrine and every time i start reading that darn book my eyes get heavy and all i want to do is sleep. i sure hope the theology teacher isn't as dry as this book because I'm fairly interested in theology of the Christian faith for a firmer foundation, But add some colour to your friggin book and dumb it down a bit because your average christian isn't exactly a PHD. in theology!!
But enough rambling, i got a name now and it isn't Nate.... well it is but i got another name! it is Mender. that blew me away because i am feeling like it is name that i have to grow into more than i already am. so i am guessing that there is more growing for me to do in the next few months which i am looking forward to doing but i feel like i have some very big shoes to fill.
Im out of here, got a whole-lotta homework to do but not a whole-lotta time and, some other stuff, like a special box that is going to be in the mail sometime. to a special somebody, well that just sounds creepy, its for Kaitlin. and i know your reading this along with the fam-jam and i miss you lots, three months Isn't that long.
XOXOXO

My parakaleo Tyler come for the weekend prior to, and the week of snowboarding which was pretty sweet because how many students in my year can say that there para. came snowboarding with them for a week? just one and i think thats me.and on top of things he gave me a snowboard! a very outstanding individual ill say. not that he gave me free things, but because he is a rad man of God who is another ray of light shining into some grim realities.

a smoothie of life.
A sunshine with a splash of miracles, if this week (and a bit earlier-on) could be put into a blender with a touch of ice to cool things off, those would be the ingredients for the perfect drink. God is Great, and beer is good, and people are crazy but more emphasis on the first part out of three (it’s a song, stop scrunching your eyebrows). It blows me away to think that me, one of little faith, was shocked to hear the results of Kaitlins MRI (yes dearie your in here). To be honest I know Gods had is in this and masterfully working his magic (power) for good. But I didn’t think positive results so soon, I know of Gods perfect timing but it never crossed my mind that God could buy time. So slap my wrists for doubting God but I realize that he doesn’t rely on my faith to do what he wants. Its weather I am on board with his plan or not. And right now I want to give all praise and Glory to the one who can do the impossible. I take that back, about the use of the word impossible anyways, because this word does not apply to Christians when it comes to us asking with the lords Glory in mind. But anyways, I’m going snowboarding for a week as of tomorrow and its something that I am very excited about and am really praying for a big dump……..of snow. Combined with am impossibly cool play-list sick crew of people and a mountain for me to dominate for a whole week. I am torn between having a good time with people and riding in some sweet powder on a sweet board that is going to ride nice for once (thanks Tyler! (sweetest parakaleo ever)). What the first idea turns into usually is that the people who are not as good as you who you are trying to teach, tell you to leave them so you can go and have fun somewhere else! So here’s the predicament. Your on the top of a small hill and if you ditch at the bottom you feel kind of like a jerk but if you stay there is nothing really to do! Decisions, decisions. Well I’m out to sleep, ill check in sometime later.

return
2 days until a week of being back. These past five days have been eye opening and enlightening as to how much I have changed from my old self and how my old self was still clinging to my coat tail as I came back through the doors of the PWL. Coming back I see that barriers that were still up between me and some of the boys, are now significantly weakened or do not even exist at all. Although I had a fantastic break with my family and have seen very many victories for Christ, it was almost a big “slap in the face” to get thrown back into the realities of school. There is no doubt that I love the wisdom that I am receiving from Tim S. and my heart is moved by what he speaks on, to come back from battle in the world and go straight back to work without a meeting with the army and a call for celebration or a re-gathering on defeated front feels like something is lacking. I understand that we are here for school. I understand that some people here are planning their lives in bible school. But to come back with heavy things on your heart that hurts to tell on more than one separate occasion and wish to get it all out at once is hard to carry on day by day. This news may make me sound depressed or discouraged but do not be alarmed, I am doing wonderfully as day by day God points my mind in a straighter direction. It was my initial feelings but I cant imagine how someone else feels because with multiple personalities of a factor or 26 there is bound to be someone else. But that’s enough rambling on my part for this subject, lets talk about something else. This morning we had a men’s prayer time at 7:30 out on the dock, not everyone was able to make it but those who did it was a powerful morning. The sky was red as hot coals on a fire-bed and that reflected onto the still water that was only disturbed by occasional passing boats. The air was crisp but wasn’t overly cold. It is mornings like that, that fill me with desire to wake early and not waste what was given to us.
I know my family reads this and I hope they know that I was so content at home for Christmas and so happy to be back that I did not want to return. I miss you all every day and continuously pray for you without cease. But within these past 5 days I know I was meant to come back to strengthen my heart in many things. I look forward to April for you to come out here and see this side of the earth. I miss you all dearly and owe a sister a phone call she requested sometime ago
